Job Clubs

Programs that sponsor support groups for job seekers which provide opportunities for participants to discuss job readiness skills, resume writing and interview techniques; engage in role plays of job interviews; share information about current employment opportunities relevant to the skills and interests of the group; and discuss and resolve specific barriers to employment that individual members are encountering. The objective of job clubs is to help individual members find employment more quickly and possibly at higher salaries than they could have obtained on their own through a structured support system and a systematic approach to job seeking.

Mutual support groups that modify the way their meetings are structured to satisfy participants who may have a preference for face-to-face meetings, telephone support or virtual exchanges via the Internet or who may need a nontraditional setting because of mobility limitations, time constraints or other issues.

Counselling Settings

Programs that modify the way their therapeutic sessions are structured in order to best meet the individual needs of people who have mental, emotional or social problems or are having difficulty coping with a particular life situation. Included are programs that offer individual, group, family or conjoint counselling, peer counselling, helpline counselling or counselling via the Internet; or which provide self-help materials that are intended to be used in lieu of in-person counselling or other forms of treatment.

Counselling Services

Programs that provide guidance and support in resolving personal, social or psychological problems through an interactive process that encourages patients to make maximum use of their assets, strengthen effective existing defenses while eliminating those that are maladaptive, gain insight into conscious or unconscious conflicts, modify their goals and make other decisions that will help them improve their personal and interpersonal functioning and deal effectively with troubling situations in their lives.
